After the release of Homecoming (2017), Marvel planned two more sequels, with Far from home, being the second one, and released in 2019. In the same year, Sony and Marvel had some issues while negotiating the production of more films, together. This caused Marvel to leave, leaving an uncertain future for more projects. Fortunately, both parts had an agreement, which was celebrated by most fans. The involvement of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, were subject of speculations, where both, actors and production companies, tried to maintain the secret. So, this 2021, we finally have the third installment: No way home.
Spider-Man: No way home depicts a Peter Parker, looking for maturity, he´s still a little bit naive, and keeps his faith on people; something he will learn in the hard way, further in the film. The concept of the "revealed identity", looks similar in other movies about the "public enemy"style; being chased by the autority, and putting your love ones in peril. The humor the movie contains is well done: the way how Peter interacts with Strange, spoilers: how the villains introduce themselves to each other; how the three spider man share their own experiences on battle, will make you laugh. The way to face hard situations, as Peter does after what the Green Goblin did to May, shows a new facet to this Peter Parker: learn by the hard way. In the visual effects; are so great, especially in the battle sequence between Spider-Man and Strange. The movie has a good point on its nostalgia effect: bringing again those iconic villains from previous films, and, of course, seeing again, both Garfield and Maguire, wearing the Spider Man suit, at least, once more. The maturity Peter shows at the end, marks an evolution to the character: with May gone, and his former friends have forgot about him —due to a new spell by Strange—, he accepts his new life: he is alone from now.
OUTCOME:
A movie, which handles well with humor and maturity at the same time. The nostalgia effect the movie has, it´s a good point. The presence of well known villains, and of course, Garfield and Maguire, will be considered as a fan service by the fans. We hope that this Peter shows more maturity in future movies, to be a more serious Spider-Man, and leave his jokes and teenager behavior behind.
